Getting Rid of Moss and Cleaning Gutters in Portland, Oregon

A Tall Job on a Three-Story Home

The house stands three stories tall, so most of this work sat far out of the owner's reach. That's the kind of job where hiring a crew beats borrowing a ladder. Moss doesn't care how high your roof is. Neither do we.

How the Job Went

We worked top down, roof first, then gutters:

• Cleared loose debris off the roof with low-impact methods that protect the shingles
• Applied our biodegradable moss treatment, only where the roof needed it, so it kills moss without harming plants below
• Cleaned the gutters inside and out, where leaves and grime had collected
• Flushed every downspout so water can move from the roofline to the ground
• Washed down the windows as runoff came off the roof, then hauled away all the debris

Why Moss and Gutters Go Together

Moss holds water against your shingles. Clogged gutters back that water up along the roofline. Fix one and skip the other, and Portland's winter rain will find the weak spot. Doing both in one visit protects the roof and the foundation at the same time.

The Result

The moss was gone and the gutters flowed the way they should. The owner said the place looked like a brand new house. He had questions about long-term care, so we came back the next day to walk through them. That's part of the job too.
