How Fresh Roof Treatments Help Extend Roof Life

Shingles lose their oils to sun and rain. Fresh Roof puts them back, with a warranty in writing.

Before and after: a Vancouver WA roof cleaned and protected with Fresh Roof

An asphalt shingle is held together by oil. Summer sun bakes it out. Winter rain works on whatever's left. Give it enough years and the shingle turns stiff, sheds granules, and holds water instead of shedding it.

That's the problem our Fresh Roof treatment was built for. It soaks lost oils back into the shingle using GreenSoy technology, and it's backed by a written six-year warranty. Call 360-803-3900 to find out if your roof is a fit.

What the Treatment Does

As shingles age, UV light and wet weather pull the oils out of the asphalt binder. The surface grows brittle. Granules loosen. Water sits longer after every storm. Fresh Roof soaks in and pushes back on that whole pattern.

You'll hear this called roof treatment or roof rejuvenation. Both names describe the same idea: put back what the weather took. You're not painting over damage. You're feeding the material that keeps the roof tough.

Why Vancouver Roofs Wear Out Early

Moisture is relentless here. From Felida and Salmon Creek to Cascade Park and Fisher's Landing East, roofs sit under evergreen shade through long wet seasons, catching fir needles the whole time. Damp shingles invite algae and moss. The growth lifts shingle edges and traps more water, and the cycle feeds itself.

Homes near greenbelts, or with tall conifers on the north or west side, usually show wear first. Restoring flexibility helps those shingles fight back, so you get more years out of the roof you already own.

Clean First, Then Treat

Cleaning and treatment are partners, not rivals. Moss removal clears the growth so the shingles can dry and absorb the treatment. Then Fresh Roof conditions the shingle itself. Done in that order, the roof looks better and works better through the wet months.

One warning we repeat a lot: never pressure wash a shingle roof. High pressure strips the very granules you're trying to save. We use low-pressure, roof-safe methods, full stop.

Signs It's Time

Every roof wears at its own pace, but these are the common triggers we see across Clark County:

If you're still working out your cleaning rhythm, our guide on how often to schedule roof cleaning covers what changes the schedule.

A Warranty in Writing

Fresh Roof carries a written six-year warranty covering material defects and shingle flexibility. Claims go in writing within 30 days of finding a defect. Accidents, disasters and structural problems unrelated to the product aren't covered, and we walk you through the details before any work starts.

The bigger point: a treated roof can serve up to six more years without the cost of a tear-off.

Treatment or Replacement?

Replacement is right when shingles are at the end of their life or an inspection finds structural trouble. Treatment is for roofs that still have life left but are losing flexibility and color. The price difference is big, and there's a quieter benefit too: fewer tear-offs means fewer usable shingles going to the landfill.

We also hear that treatments are "just cosmetic." They're not. The formula targets the asphalt binder itself, and the better look is a bonus. From Ridgefield to Camas and Washougal, the weather is a given. Early wear doesn't have to be. If your clean roof still looks tired, or the downspouts keep catching granules, have us look before you price a new roof.
